Castle Liechtenstein, home of the dukes of Liechtenstein is no ordinary museum, rather a very lively place which draws thousands of visitors to its walls every year. Besides the romanesque core of the castle from the time around year 1130 many details like weapons, furniture, beamed ceilings and the castle’s chapel as well as a stunning view over the flatlands around Vienna makes this place a worthwhile cultural highlight and place to visit.

How to get there

By foot you will get to the castle in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

By car it’s about 12 minutes.

By public bus: walk down the road from BZW to the fire brigade’s house at Weissenbach, take line 364, direction Mödling, get off at the final stop “Mödling Bahnhof” (find a timetable in the welcome booklet at our office). There you have to change to line 262. Get off at “Maria Enzersdorf Siedlungsstraße” stop, from there it’s a 10 minute walk to the castle. The whole trip will take about 1.5hrs since the connections at Mödling station are not perfect.

Our verdict

Great day-out, we definitely recommend it! Especially the guided tours for kids are great, fun for everyone.
